It's Another Anniversary Today!

No trick or treat kids even come up Heck Hill... so it is pretty quiet here tonight as usual.

Ten years ago tonight Shirley and I worked until midnight loading up the last of our stuff from our home we sold in Westbank at Pebble Beach.  It was Halloween night.  Pretty spooky, eh?  We had bought a 10-foot trailer that we could pull behind our truck, and this final load was number 8.  This was our final goodbye to the Okanagan.

We had been moving thru the summer... and we did the whole move by ourselves.  So we had kind of been living here.  But since we were involved in our final CHIP program and it didn't wind up until the last week of October, we spent the last month living in our home there and getting things packed up.

Today it rained here most of the day.  But in the last half hour of daylight the sun broke thru the clouds so I grabbed my camera.  It was still raining and it kept raining and I kept working until it was too dark to see.

I hate getting wet... so I worked under a 4 x 8 sheet of 1/2-inch plywood all day to keep dry.  I started out with it about the same height as the top of the window... but when I got too close to it I had to raise it higher.  So I cantilevered a couple of 14-foot 2 x 10 planks and set the plywood on top of it.  This should keep me dry tomorrow for most of the day.  You can see I got rain drops on my lens taking this shot. It just won't stop raining for very long... and time is running out... so I just got keep working somehow.  This wall is the last of the shingle siding.

I was so happy to see the sun come out at the end of the afternoon I just kept wanting to take pictures... in spite of the rain which kept on falling and it's still raining as I do this blog post.

Tucson is looking better every day... and thankfully it's getting closer.

The cobwebs in our house just became decorations today... Thanks Halloween.

Hope your Halloween was great... it was a non event here!

What happened at your house tonight?

  1. That picture of the sunshine through the rain is beautiful!

Halloween is a non-event at our house too--I didn't even buy a lick of candy this year... usually I get a little, "just in case." Ha. There are many advantages to having a long dark driveway!
