Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2012 is all too soon behind us.  We have looked forward to getting together with family for several weeks... and we have had a wonderful time together.  Sherilee planned for weeks a special meal for us all.  Parts of the meal were prepared a day or two in advance.  Shirley and Sherilee were in the kitchen at 6:30 this morning preparing fresh apple pies to go in the oven.

When the meal was served it was truly fantastic. Then all too soon we were so stuffed there was no room for dessert. The guys cleared the table, filled the dishwasher, put away the food and Shelby washed the pots and pans as I dried them.  Alan helped put things away.

There will be some awesome meals here for the next week... the left overs are plentiful. I'm only sad we will not be here to enjoy the continuing feast.

"Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare.  They are consumed in twelve minutes.  Half-times take twelve minutes.  This is not a coincidence." -Erma Bombeck

On the way to Walla Walla we stopped in Kelowna to visit Shirley's mother and her sister Bobbie... plus we visited Mark and Carole.  Mark has retired and has a wonderful passion for cycling.  His main bike is titanium and weighs only 15 pounds... about half of most bikes.  In his spare time he finds older bikes and fixes them up, repaints them and sells them.

His basement looks like a bicycle shop.  Absolutely fantastic.  I regret not having the room to get one of his rebuilt bikes... but our truck was so full, we didn't even have room to bring Shirley's bicycle.

I have been thinking a lot about getting into cycling since our visit.  I think it will be a great way to get exercise without the abuse that running was doing to my body.

Friday morning early we will be rolling down the road towards Tucson... looking forward to warmer weather with some golf and pickle ball.
