PUC 50-year Homecoming Weekend

It was an amazing Easter Weekend to celebrate 50 years since graduating from Pacific Union College.

We arrived without our luggage, so the two shirts Shirley had got me especially for the trip, never got worn... and her colorful dress never came out of the suitcase. They told us they would deliver the suitcases to us, but there was only one flight a day from Vancouver to Sacramento, and once they received it they would have it delivered to us... and they did (about 80 miles).  10:30 pm. Saturday after we just got in bed there was a knock on the door.  They arrived.  At 8am Sunday morning we left for the airport to fly home.

I think that the organ in this church is as good as it gets... and the music was over the top spectacular. Susan Roberts had an amazing Easter message... without a single note, she stood up and spoke for at least 30 minutes.  "We all have dreams... and Jesus still asks each of us to, 'Follow Me."

Meet Katy Van Arsdale... she is the Archivist for PUC... the one who encouraged me to donate my poster collection to the school. Here she is holding an original letter from Ellen G. White... the last page that she just found this past week. No one knows how it got misplaced, but there was a lot of excitement when she was able to put this last page with the rest of the letter.

Katy showed us a few other treasures... like this leather case of J.N. Loughbourgh... his initials are stamped on the front. What a privilege for Shirley to hold that big briefcase.

With the helpful eye of Caleb Pudewell, (art student) they set up a colorful display of the posters in the foyer of Paulin Hall (the music auditorium).

They also made up some very colorful postcards about the exhibit as a handout.

This was the story written on the back of the postcard.

This was one of my favorite posters... it was for a male singing group organized and directed by Buz Starrett.  I signed this poster and gave it to him to take home.  But also, Caleb copied this poster and printed another 50 more so that those in our class, as well as the fellowmen group, could take home a souvenir. Well done, Caleb.  Thank you.

Shirley took this photo of Buz and me.  We became very good friends and I helped him make a record album, did a lot of PR work for the Fellowmen, as well as took photos of the group.

One of my art professors, Charles Temple, was the one who encouraged me to explore the possibility of silk screen printing to make posters.  (Yearbook photo)

It was hard to get back far enough to get in the whole church bell tower, so I cheated a little and tilted the camera.

I liked this banner along the walk between the church and the gymnasium.  We may have different gifts and talents, but there is a place for everyone.

"Not more surely is the place prepared for us in the heavenly mansions than is the special place designated on earth where we are to work for God."

God is Omniscient -He is All Knowing

7. God Is Omniscient – He Is All-Knowing

1. God has Perfect Self-Knowledge:

Within the Godhead, the Father knows the Son and the Son knows the Father perfectly.
All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except for the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” –Matthew 11:27
“Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep.” –John 10:15
For who knows a person's thoughts except for their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” -1 Cor. 2:11

2. God has Perfect Knowledge:

God is light; in him, there is no darkness at all.” –1 John 1:5

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.”
–Psalm 147:5

3. God has Eternal Knowledge:

Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me,  declaring  the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.’ -Isaiah 46:9,10

4. God has Immediate Knowledge… all at once:

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the
Lord? Or who has been his counselor?  “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” –Romans 11:33-35

5. God has Exhaustive Knowledge:

From heaven, the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—  he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.” –Psalm 33:13-15

He counts the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” –Psalm 147:4

Not even a sparrow falls without the Father seeing it. –Matthew 10:29

And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” –Matthew 10:30

“For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.” –Proverbs 5:21

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” -2 Chronicles 16:9

6. God has Penetrating Knowledge:

He can see thru walls, darkness; He sees the motives: For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.”1 Samuel 16:17

You have searched me, LORD and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.  You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.  Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.” –Psalm 139:1-4

Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.” –Psalm 139:12

7. God knows the Future Knowledge

“He knows the end from the beginning.” –Isaiah 47:9-11

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”Revelation 22:13

He knows what will happen before it happens.  “Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.” –Isaiah 46:9,10

8. God knows the Possible Knowledge:

“Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds, the wonders of one perfect in knowledge?” –Job 37: 18

“Great and mighty is our Lord; His wisdom cannot be measured.” Psalm 147:5

“…for God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.” -1 John 3:20
